F-I-V-E---Y-E-A-R-S

It's freaken' 3 in the morning and i'm wide awake. Damn, I should stop taking these naps when I get home from work. Anyway, as I lay in bed trying to get some shut eye, I just realized I missed my 5th year anniversary in Singapore 2 days ago.

Wow, it's been 5 years. Looking back and pondering on what I've been through really makes me sentimental. At the same time, it gives me a sense of accomplishment. I've definitely learned a lot not only in terms of my professional work but personally, as well. I feel proud that all these 5 years I've been independent and fending for myself. Of course, with the help of friends and family around me.

Singapore is cool. Really. I had lunch with a new colleague and my boss earlier today (or yesterday since it's 3+am) and I said what really impresses me with this country is the discipline of the people. I mean small things like tapping in and out of the bus when commuting, crossing the street at pedestrian lanes only (well most of the time), stopping at traffic lights even when the road is empty, etc.

Work-wise, I feel very privileged that as a foreigner, people have been accommodating and professional. I mean being in Sales and a Filipino at that sure has it's challenges - yet I've never had any major issue with any client for the fact that I'm not local. After all, Singapore is a melting pot of different cultures and nationalities - even more so in the recent years.

Of course there a few a-holes who are just blatantly rude but they are a minority. I really never understand blatantly rude people. I'd like to believe that I always try to smile, be friendly and courteous to everyone in and out of my workplace but some people I really just don't get. Slowly, I've learned that some people are just oblivious of the fact that they are being rude - plus it could be due to many different reasons. At the end of the day (haha this is a line that a lot of locals love to say), I'm just going to be nice to everyone (I try). If you choose to bitch at me, I leave it all up to Karma. Karma is a bitch so stop bitching hahaha.

Anyway, I'm just aimlessly blabbering here... On a side note, in as much as I love this country, sometimes I also feel like exploring other parts of the world. I don't know, I'm just impatient like that. And since working in SG has given me the means to travel, I've been itching to see even more of the world everytime I have the chance to travel (does that make sense? haha). But of course, it's not so easy. Relocating to another country means starting from square 1 all over again. The thoughts of finding a new place, new job and money to tide you over while settling prevents me from going anywhere else at this point.

I'm happy. Probably a 4 out of a 5 haha. I think that's what's important. Happiness is a choice, as what most people will say. Things could be better but I'm content. Now, if I could only lose weight I'd be happy 5 out of 5 hahaha.

Cheers to everyone! Happy anniversary to me and all you out there celebrating whatever form of anniversary. Now where to celebrate this Friday night... Any ideas? :-P
